Pinpointing mineral locations in Texas

I have no problem locating our various mineral holdings in Oklahoma by Section Township and Range -- but I've never had to deal with a property in Texas until now. The system has me confused. I can't seem to find an equivalent map online that would show me where exactly within Mitchell County Texas our minerals are located. (They are in Section 7 Township 1N Block 28.) I'm eager to learn where that is in relation to the towns in the county and in relationship to the various other oil and gas activity going on right now. Is it a hot area or not so hot? Would appreciate any advice or help!

The Railroad Commission has a mapping tool that can give you what you're looking for.  The few times I've used it I got nice maps but each time it took a long time for me to figure how to use the system.  If you have the Abstract number I believe it will be easier ( number should be on your deed and probably shown as A-XXX).

    Vivian:

A more complete description is Sec 7, Block 28, Township 1N, Abstract 560, T&P RR Co. Survey.  This abstract is located in approx. the middle of what would be the NW/4.  There is no current production and there are two dry holes located in the SESESE & NWSWNE.  One was drilled in 1983 and the other in 1987. No abstract leasing has taken place since 2009.

Can can also find a nice GIS map on the General Land Office of Texas website.

    http://www.glo.texas.gov/GLO/agency-administration/gis/index.html

Just click on the: Launch GLO GISWEB Viewer link.

Search is top center of the map and you will need the county and abstract number only, drop the "A-".
