While doing a search on the OCC website in a Section, Township and Range (Latimer County) in which I have a small percentage of mineral interests, I noticed a producing well that I’m not being paid for. I thought I’d ask the knowledgeable folks among you if there is any valid reason why I might not be getting any benefit from this mineral property before I contact the company? Is there a time limit during which I’m entitled to ask for back paychecks? I am currently receiving payment for other wells in that S, T and R. Thanks. Karen

    Karen:

Your issue may evolve around well spacing but I would contact the company and ask the question anyway.  I have encounted the same issue where the section contained five producing wells and only two were paying.  Due to the contact a twenty thousand dollar suspense check was received.

Also, were you searching by "botton hole location" on the OCC website?  OCC records are filed by surface hole location and it is possible that the well is a horizontal well with the surface in your section but the bottom in an adjoining section.

Thank you both for your helpful comments. Donna, this well (Berkley Hills 2-15 in Latimer 10 4N 20E) didn't have an H after its number so I get that clue to look for the bottom hole location. Anyway, I guess it's legit that it's not in my section.  Karen

    Karen,

According to the well completion report for Berkley Hills #2-15, the well is directionally drilled with a surface hole location in the SE SE SW 10-4N-20E and a bottom hole location in the SE SE NW 15-4N-20E, so the royalties would go to the owners in 15.  I hope this helps.
