Class Action Lawsuit

I recently received a notice that I will be part of a class action lawsuit as a royalty owner leased with QEP, unless I opt out; a new experience for me. Apparently, I’m not the only one with complaints over the past many months that they’re not following the terms of my lease. I’m not sure if remaining part of the class will help me or not. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I should go about making this decision? Has anyone else on this list been notified that they’re part of the same class?  -- Karen

The easy and cheap direction is to go along with the class action but be aware the settlement commentary may include language that you cannot bring a similar action down the road.  Depending upon your involvement (usually wells or acreage), the individual settlements are less than a couple of hundred.
