  • This three-hour course is designed for people who are new to owning and managing mineral interests and is open to interested NARO members. A minimum of six registrations is required by October 22, 2026. If the minimum is not met, the course will be canceled and all course fees refunded.

About the Course

Foundations of Mineral Ownership is a beginner-friendly course for people who are new to owning and managing mineral interests or want to strengthen their fundamentals. The course runs for three hours, including time for questions, before the National Convention program begins.

  • The typical mineral-ownership sequence: leasing, drilling, production, division orders, and revenue
  • A practical overview of oil and gas operations
  • Types of mineral and royalty ownership
  • Decimal and Net Revenue Interest (NRI) calculations
  • Data-management fundamentals

Who Can Attend

The course is open to interested NARO members, including members who are not currently enrolled in the Mineral Management Program (MMP). The $100 course fee covers this course only and is separate from National Convention registration and MMP fees.

Enrollment Policy

At least six people must be registered by October 22, 2026. If the minimum enrollment is not met, registrants will be contacted and all course fees will be refunded.
